In my last house, we had a massive mirror in front of a two-sink counter, but a recessed medicine cabinet on the side. It was incredibly useful for keeping my stuff out of the way and the sink area uncluttered. I think it partially depends on what works for your bathroom layout, but when I remodeled I opted for a hanging cabinet/shelf instead, like this and just used a regular wall-mounted mirror above the sink.
